Rag’n’Bone Man has the blues on an elemental level. His grouchy-bear voice purrs, growls, and howls across this EP of bad love and hard times. Set against clanking chains, ominous piano stabs, and taunting harmonies, it’s impossibly deep in the punishing “Hard Came the Rain,” scorched and raw in “Disfigured,” and high and haunted in “Perfume.” “Bitter End” pulls these extremes together at once, depicting a big man brought down by love, first pleading for redemption and then screaming for release.
