About Small Town Somethin' - EP

Pop-country outfit High Valley knows its way around a hooky melody. Take “Small Town Somethin’,” the title track on this follow-up to the band’s 2022 full-length LP Way Back (which got a deluxe treatment the following year). With its stomping beat and rollicking banjo, the track is a sweet ode to small-town life that also boasts an instant earworm of a chorus, delivered with laidback confidence by lead singer Brad Rempel. Other highlights include “Buy a Boy a Baseball,” a tender portrait of early parenthood, and closer “Solid Ground,” on which Rempel vulnerably details how his faith provides him a steady foundation.
