Big J's Hero, Paul Feig and Rock of the 90's

  • Print

It’s not often that Big J gets to do a “Bad Impression” of one of his heroes, but today it happened. Sylvester Stallone turns 67-years-old tomorrow, so from the bottom of Big J’s heart, Happy Birthday Sly!

While most morning shows were busy taking the day off, we had a legendary film and television director join our show. Paul Feig has been attached to many hit television shows such as The Office, Mad Men, Parks & Recreation, Arrested Development and 30 Rock. He also created Freaks & Geeks, along with directing a film known as Bridesmaids. Right now, there’s a movie in theaters starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy called The Heat. Mr. Feig sat in the Director’s chair during the filming of that one as well and called us this morning to chat all about it. Catch the full interview on the front page of xrock.com.

We are smack dab in the middle of a "Rock of the 90’s Weekend." Grab your slammers, feed your Tamagotchis and dial your radios to 100.3 all weekend long. Of course you will still get your fix of Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soungarden, but it’s only on very rare occasions that we throw in tracks from the likes of Blink 182, Limp BIzkit and Eve 6. I work here and I’m still blown away by the wide range of awesome that’s been popping up on the airwaves thus far. Enjoy it while you can.

Nic - II   Big J - II

Monday -Holy Bleep its cold out!  Let's try to warm things up with a HOT rock war...Big J loses the first war of the week with his selection of Kid Rock So Hot getting beat out by Nic's choice of Juliette and The Licks Hot Kiss.

Tuesday - Happy Birthday Nirvana Unplugged in New York!  This rock war is for you and considering how amazing this album was it is fitting that it ended in a tie between Big J's choice of All Apologies and Nic's choice of Lake of Fire.  There needs to be a winner so it must go to All Apologies.

Wednesday -  Wanna fight like the one that broke out at the Pacers v Pistons game10 years ago? Let's do it.  Big J wins with the classic choice of Drowning Pool Step Up beating Nic's choice of Volbeat Warriors Call.

Thursday -  WE ARE SO F*ING SICK OF THIS SNOW!  We need to express our hatred about it with a song fight to feel better. Big J wins this one with GWAR Go to Hell beating Nic's KORN Leave me Alone!  Enough snow already.

Friday -  Rocking your ass into the weekend.
